Ring Tower wrapping serves as a gigantic appeal against violence

The secret is revealed: The special wrapping of the Ring Tower in Vienna kicks off the anti-violence campaign of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein.

At the initiative of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the renowned artist Gottfried Helnwein is this autumn transforming the Ring Tower in Vienna into a gigantic appeal against violence. Helnwein makes the violence experienced by women and children unavoidably visible on a total area of 3,000 m². “Hardly any other artist of the present day is better suited to deal with the topic of violence in such a haunting way as Gottfried Helnwein. This artwork comes with a strong message: violence – whether physical, mental or of a virtual nature – must never be tolerated. Civil society is called upon to take an unambiguous position,” explains Robert Lasshofer, Chairman of the Managing Board of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of Vienna Insurance Group (VIG).

The initial wrapping work on the outer façade of the Ringturm (corporate headquarters of Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, VIG Holding and Wiener Städtische Versicherung) has started. Completion is planned for beginning of October, the artwork can then be seen until the end of the month.
